The Bayshore Resort is our official wedding hotel. Here’s the best reason why you should stay there: it’s literally next door to the Hagerty Center! Google says it is 0.2 miles away. I don’t know if the parking lots connect, but you definitely can walk there.
There’s a block of rooms reserved for wedding guests – make sure to mention the “Maloney/DeHate Wedding” to get the group rates. Which you want to do, because it’s significantly cheaper than you’d otherwise pay. The rates they quoted me are as follows…it’s probably more complicated based on various factors, but this should be in the neighborhood of what you will pay:
| Saturday | Sunday | |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $138 | $87 |
| Partial View | $147 | $95 |
| Bayfront | $170 | $117 |
Some notes on the hotel situation:
- If you’re staying in the hotel Saturday, a two night reservation is required!
- If you want to stay before and/or after the weekend, they should be able to extend the group rate for you.
- Not staying on Saturday night? Check in is at 4pm, so keep that in mind.
- Continental breakfast is included, so get psyched for some bagels and assorted coffee cakes.
Reserve your room ASAP to secure your spot! Call the Bayshore at: (800) 634-4401.
things to do
wine!
Wine is a pretty big deal in Traverse City…here’s links with information on wine in the two peninsulas:
And one of our favorites is downtown:
other stuff
There’s lots to do in downtown Traverse City too. Left Foot Charley is in a complex call “The Village” – it’s an old insane asylum that’s been converted to swanky shops and at least one nice restaurant. A good time, and some great photos!
The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes area was recently voted the most beautiful place in America – we’re not sure if we agree with that, but no doubt it’s amazing and worth the drive over there.
If you’re feeling lucky, there are two casinos in the greater-Traverse City area. Turtle Creek Casino is a quick 20 minute drive east of the city, while Leelanau Sands Casino is a scenic 30 minute drive up the Leelanau Peninsula.
