about us

our story

The first time I saw Mark was when he came in for his interview at work.  Obviously he got the job and it didn’t take long for us to become friends.  It was hard not to be intrigued by a red-head nicknamed “Chief” who wore bright blazers with American flag bandanas, sported a very large, furry winter coat and listened to Snoop Dogg.

It took a while (and some fairly non-discrete encouragement from our friends) for Mark to ask me out.  When he did, he had a subtle, yet creative approach.  He stopped by my desk early one morning and told me about a coupon that he had for a buy-one-get-one-free dinner.  He then asked if I knew anyone who would be interested in a free dinner.   Of course, I was!

Our second “date” came about because of our ever-scheming friends.  They tricked us into thinking that a large group of folks would be coming over the Mark’s apartment to hang out on a Friday evening.  Turns out, Mark and I were the only ones who actually showed up!  We had fun anyway, talking and laughing late into the night.

That was September 1, 2006 and we’ve been together ever since.  It has been an amazing five years getting to know and love Mark.  We’ve been on trips all over the country, attended countless Tigers and Lugnuts games, sampled wine at almost every winery in the state of Michigan, waited in the cold together for hours to be the first to get a new gaming system and more.   Who knows what the next 50 years will hold!

Mark is one of the kindest, most creative and quirkiest people I have ever met.   I am so lucky to have him in my life and I can’t wait for him to be my husband!

Oh, and did I mention that he’s nice to my cats, too?  What a catch!!

Molly covered the main points of our meeting in her story above, and I will verify its accuracy. While it was quite a nerve-wracking experience to ask Molly out that first time, and required me to get to work at least 20 minutes early, I think it all worked out in the end. =)

Molly will claim she’s put up with a lot with me over the years, although I’m not really sure what she’s talking about. I mean, Snakes on a Plane was *definitely* an awesome movie that we needed to get advance tickets for! Yeah, so maybe I’ve been injured a couple of times, but I know she really enjoys all the hauling me back and forth to the emergency room. The arcade cabinet totally goes with the decor in the entry room! And those hours spent huddled under literally every blanket I owned in front of Target in the freezing cold? I know she secretly loved every frozen minute.

Clearly, Molly is quite an awesome person for going along with so many crazy schemes of mine, and still coming back for more. She’s excessively caring, particularly thoughtful, and dominates at thinking one step ahead of everybody else. I am so lucky that she continues to put up with me and I can’t wait for her to be my wife!
